HC stays 18 cases against Selima, Aman, Sohel

The High Court on Wednesday stayed the trial proceedings of eighteen cases filed against BNP’s Vice Chairman Selima Rahman, its advisor Amanullah Aman and Joint Secretary General Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel.

The HC bench of Justice Md Miftah Uddin Choudhury and Justice ANM Bashir Ullah passed the order after hearing a petition filed by them seeking cancellation of the trial proceedings.

The court also issued separate rules, asking the government to explain why the proceedings of the cases against them would not be scrapped.

In 2015, the case was filed over carrying out an arson attack on a bus during BNP-led 20-party alliance’s anti-government agitation.
