BNP seeks time from EC
BNP wanted time from the Election Commission to submit audit reports of its annual income and expenditure of 2014.
BNP Assistant Office Secretary Asadul Karim Shahin sent a request letter to the Election Commission on Tuesday morning seeking extra time.
He told that, the party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir could not attend his office properly due to arrest and harassment by the government. “That’s why we couldn’t prepare our report in scheduled time.”
According to Political Parties Registration Rule-2008, all registered parties have to submit annual audit reports, certified by a listed chartered accountant firm, within July 31 of the following year.
The EC last month sent reminders to all 40 political parties about the July 31 deadline.
