ASL leaders demand deportation of Bangabandhu’s killers

Leaders of Awami Swechasebak League (ASL) today demanded bringing back the fugitive killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and execution of their death sentences.

The demand came at a human chain staged at Gulshan-2 here by the organization as part of the ongoing programme of the National Mourning Day.

The Swechasebak League leaders also urged the foreign countries sheltering the killers to deport the murderers saying, “It is not a wise decision to grant political asylum to any convicted killer.”

The ASL leaders told the function that the killing of Bangabandhu in 1975 has made Bangladesh an orphan. They alleged that former autocratic ruler Ziaur Rahman rehabilitated the self-confessed killers of Bangabandhu.

The leaders also blasted Zia for grabbing state power illegally and enacting a law obstructing trials of the killers.

ASL President Molla M Abu Kawsar chaired the human chain programme. ASL General Secretary Pankaj Debnath, vice-presidents Matiur Rahman Moti and Nirmal Ranjan Guho, Liberation War Affairs Secretary Rafiqul Islam Liton and Dhaka City North President Mobasher Chowdhury, among others, participated in the human chain.
