Graft case to continue against Moudud

The High Court today rejected BNP leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed's petition challenging the legality of framing charges in a graft case against him.

"The High Court through this order has cleared the way for continuing the trial proceedings," said Anti-Corruption Commission counsel Khurshid Alam Khan.

The HC, however, ordered the authority concerned to change the court for holding the trial of the case filed by ACC against Moudud.

A HC division bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Krishna Debnath rejected the petition and passed the order.

The ACC filed a case against Moudud Ahmed on September 16 in 2007 for possessing wealth of Taka 738,48,287 crore beyond his known income sources and withholding information about his assets of Taka 4,40,37,375.

Advocate Khan said the HC rejected the Moudud's petition challenging the trial proceedings of the graft case against him and ordered the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge to shift the case from Dhaka 6th Special Judge Court to another one.

The court also ordered to dispose the case within six months, he added.
