Parties popular at grassroots will win in next parliament: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the party which has been winning at the grassroots elections will win in the next parliamentary election.

"Among the 29 union parishads elections held yesterday, Awami League won 22 while independent candidate bagged four and BNP three," he told a press conference held AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's political office in Dhanmondi.

Earlier, Quader addressed a joint meeting of Dhaka South and North City Awami League to make success the programmes of the month of August.

AL Joint General Secretaries Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organizing Secretaries Ahmed Hossain and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Labour Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, Dhaka South City AL General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, Dhaka North City AL General Secretary Sadeq Khan, AL Women Affairs Secretary Fazilatunnessa Indira and Chhatra League President Saifur Rahman Shohagh, among others, were present in the meeting.

Quader asked all to remain alert about the lateral organizations as those may extort money marking the month.
