Mir Quasem appeal hearing Feb 2
The Supreme Court fixed February 2 for hearing the appeal filed by Jamaat leader Mir Quasem Ali against the tribunal verdict that had awarded him death penalty for wartime offences.
Four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha fix the date following a time prayer made by defense lawyer Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossin on Thursday.
The defence lawyer sought time while the appeal came up before the apex court for an order.
On November 2, 2014, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 sentenced Quasem to death for crimes against humanity in 1971.
