BNP announces countrywide demo Monday

BNP will stage a demonstration across the country on Monday protesting today’s attack on motorcade of the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in Rangunia upazila of Chittagong district.

Countrywide agitation rallies will be organised, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, joint secretary general of the party, told journalists while speaking at press briefing at Comilla district BNP office on Sunday.

The BNP leader accused Awami League of attacking on Fakhrul saying, “Awami League conducted such an attack to hide their failure in rescuing and assisting affected people in Hill Tracts.”

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s motorcade came under attack in Chittagong while he was on the way to Rangamati on Sunday morning.

Mirza Fakhrul along with other leaders including BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud was scheduled to visit landslide-affected areas in Rangamati.
