Next national polls won’t wait for anybody: Obaidul Quader

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the next general election will not wait for anybody.

"The constitution and election will not wait for anybody ...the last general election could not be postponed for anybody and the next general election would also not be halted for anybody," said the minister while replying to query at the press conference held at the Awmi League President Sheikh Hasina`s political office at Dhanmondi here.

Expressing hope that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will participate at the next general election, the ruling party leader said the BNP won`t take risk of cancelation of its registration at the Election Commission by not participating in the election.

The Mohila Awami League organized the press conference marking the 5th national conference of the Mohila Awami League to be held at Krishibid Institution auditorium at Khamarbari tomorrow.

Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to join the conference as the chief guest.

Mohila Awami League President Ashrafunnesa Mosharraf read the written speech at the press conference. Awami League Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Delwar Hossain, Women Affairs Secretary Fazilatunnesa Indira, Vice-President of the Women Awami League Safia Khatun, Khaleda Khanam, Fardia Akhter, General Secretary Pinu Khan, Organizing Secretary Mahmuda Khatun Krick and Religious Affairs Secretary Hasina Alam Beby, among others, participated.

Quader told the press conference that the election time government will perform the daily routine activities. But t the election will be held under the EC, he added.

Lauding the importance of the Mohila Awami League in the politics of the country, the minister said the Mahila Awami League is representing almost half of country`s total population.

A 27-member national conference preparation committee and 10-member conference preparation sub-committee have also been formed comprising with the Mohila Awami League, Dhaka City North Unit Awami League and Dhaka City South Unit Awami League to make the conference successful, he added.
