Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, on Tuesday described the denial of war crimes committed by the Pakistan army during Bangladesh`s Liberation War in 1971 as tantamount to "killing history".

The minister was speaking at a book launching ceremony at the Secretariat. The book "Ekatturer Juddho Shishu-Abidito Itihash" (The unknown history of war children of 1971) written by Mustafa Chowdhury, who had conducted a research on the topic.

Inu said, "Although belated the trial of the war criminals are taking place. The book contains details of the ground reality of the war. Those who are denying it are trying to protect the war criminals. They are denying history. They are, therefore, accused of both the crimes".

The minister recalled that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had in his infinite humanity illuminated the issue and promulgated the historical "Abandoned Children`s Act" and a number of Canadians families had shown their magnanimity by responding to the call by taking care of some of the children.

The writer, Mostafa, in his speech appealed to all government and non-government institutions to preserve the book. The book has been published by "Academic Press and Publishers Library."
