BNP being turned into `failed party`: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said BNP is being turned into a `failed political party` due to its various misdeeds.
"Bangladesh is not a failed state, it`s advancing under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ... rather BNP is being turned into a failed political party," he told a discussion.
The comments of Qauder, also the road transport and bridges minister, came as the BNP leaders alleged that Bangladesh is being turned into a "dysfunctional state".
Bangabandhu Parishad arranged the discussion at Institution of Diploma Engineers` Institute auditorium in the city marking the 46th Victory Day.
with secretary of the Parishad Dr S A Malek in the chair, it was addressed, among others, by Dhaka University (DU) vice-chancellor professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, DU pro-vc professor Akhtaruzaman, general secretary of Dhaka South City Corporation Awami League Shahe Alam Murad and Bangabandhu Parishad leader Mahbub Uddin.
Responding to Khaleda Zia`s remark over Narayanganj City Corporation polls, Quader said those who were born through conspiracy, always see and speak about plots.
"When the entire world said that the NCC polls were held in a free, fair and credible manner ... but only the BNP got smell of conspiracy there," Quader said.
The minister also urged all pro-liberation forces to be united to thwart the communal forces. "There is no alternative to the unity of the pro-liberation forces to eliminate communalism and militancy from the country," he said.
The AL general secretary expressed hope that the whole nation would be united under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina like in 1971.
