Bangabhaban invites six more parties for talks

Bangabhaban has invited six more political parties in the second phase of talks with President Abdul Hamid over formation of a new Election Commission (EC).

"Letters were sent to the official addresses of six political parties today (Tuesday)," President`s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin said.

According to the press secretary, President Abdul Hamid will hold talks with Workers Party on December 27, Bangladesh Nationalist Front and Islami Oikya Jote on December 29, Jatiya Party (Manju) on January 2, 2017 and Bangladesh Tarikat Federation and Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) on January 3.

Meanwhile, the President`s Office rescheduled talks with Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal following a request from the party as its president Hasanul Haq Inu, also information minister, will stay abroad on an official visit during the earlier scheduled date.

"Now the discussion with Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal will be held on December 26 instead of December 22," Joynal added.

In the first phase, the President`s Office invited BNP, Jatiya Party, Liberal Democratic Party, Krishak Sramik Janata League and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Inu). President Hamid had already held talks with BNP on December 18 and Jatiya Party on December 20.

Discussion with Liberal Democratic Party and Krishak Sramik Janata League is scheduled for tomorrow
