Police foil Islami Andolan’s long march towards Myanmar

Law enforcement forces have foiled a long march of Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) to Myanmar protesting the ongoing persecution on the Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine state.

IAB Publicity Secretary Md Abdul Kaiyum said several hundreds of their activists gathered at Jatrabari area Sunday morning. However, they could not start the march as police blocked them.

Later, IAB activists observed a sit-in at Paltan.

Meanwhile, a group of activists of Comilla unit of Islami Andolon also tried to march towards Myanmar. Police blocked them near Chandina Bus Station on Dhaka-Chittagong Highways, Jago News Comilla correspondent reported.
