BNP `hopeful` following talks with president

Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Sunday said they were hopeful that the president as the guardian of the state would act appropriately on the reconstitution of Election Commission.

The party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the remark  at a press briefing at the party’s central officethis evening.

Fakhrul held the press conference  after a meeting with the president.

The BNP leader said the talks with the president were held amid a cordial atmosphere. 

It was learnt that BNP delegation presented a summary of Khaleda Zia’s 13-point proposal on reconstitution of the Election Commission.

Earlier a BNP delegation led by its chairperson Khaleda Zia held talks with the president, Abdul Hamid, over the reconstitution of the Election Commission at Bangabhaban on Sunday afternoon.

The meeting started at 4:37pm at the Darbar Hall of the presidential palace and ended at 5:40pm.

tThe BNP delegation  reached Bangabhaban at 4:27 PM.

The former Prime Minister led a 13 member BNP delegation. BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and senior leaders are with her.  

The former Prime Minister left her Gulshan residence at around 3:05, Syrul Kabir Khan, a staff of BNP chief’s press wing, told journalists.

The BNP chairperson went to party`s Nayapaltan office first and from there she  started for Bangabhaban.
