NCC candidates visit door to door with promises
For the first time, voter of Narayanganj City Corporation electing their mayor that will be held on party lines. The voters will choose their mayor candidate among the seven candidates on December 22.
Election gathering now a common pictures with a festive environment in different places here, the candidates including Awami League contestant Dr Salina Hayat Ivy and BNP candidate Advocate Shakhawat Hossain Khan promising to the voters to reshape inland port city in their separate campaign.
The candidates are currently busy establishing mass contact, briefing rallies moving door steps of the voters, where they are promising various issues and highlighting their own development agendas to win voters` hearts.
Highlighting her development agenda, AL candidate Selina Hayat Ivy, the previous city mayor, told BSS correspondent “I have done different development works in the city during the last tenure”.
Ivy said it is essential to reelect her for completion of her unfinished development works. She wants second time opportunity from the voters. “If I`m elected, I`ll complete my unfinished works on priority basis,” Ivy said.
Ivy also said people of the city elected me in the last city corporation election as I have made huge development in Narayanganj pourasabha. Now people will judge what I have done for the city corporation and its dwellers.
BNP candidate Shakhawat, believes he will be the winner, if the election is free and fair. He also promising to the voters to establish higher education institution, solve traffic problem and solve residential problem of the workers.
Biplobi Workers Party candidates Advocate Mahbubur Rahman mentioning his 21 development works said if I am elected, I will establish a Labor Court for workers, establish a modern hospital for workers, IT park and establish modern and environment friendly industries.
A total of seven aspirants are contesting for mayoral posts, while 156 for general councillor posts and 38 for reserved (women) councillor posts.
