BNP seeks army for NCC polls to create panic: Hanif
Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, MP, today said BNP is demanding deployment of army during Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls to create panic among voters.
He was talking to journalists before exchanging views with party leaders and activists at his PTI Road residence here.
Hanif said the AL and BNP candidates are saying that a festive mood is prevailing in Narayanganj on the occasion of NCC polls.
The people of Narayanganj will elect the AL candidate as NCC mayor with a wide margin, he said, adding that the people`s verdict would be evident after the polls.
The AL leader said the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami had pushed the country towards darkness.
Now, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has kindled hope among the people by connecting the country to the highway of development, he added.
District AL Vice-President Hazi Rabiul Islam and AL leader Taijal Ali Khan were present on the occasion, among others.
Later, Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif attended the installation ceremony of the newly elected committee of Kushtia Press Club.
Presided over Press Club President Abdur Rashid Chowdhury, the function was attended by the elected club leaders and AL leaders, among others.
Hanif also attended a reception accorded by district Shilpakala Academy to him and his elder brother freedom fighter and former secretary Rashidul Alam.
Shilpakala Academy General Secretary Amirul Islam presided over the function.
