Ivy, Shakhawat get symbols

The returning officer of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) elections Nuruzzaman Talukder distributed symbols among the candidates on Monday morning.

Awami League-led 14-party-backed mayoral runner Selina Hayat Ivy has got the party symbol `Boat` while Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)-backed candidate Shakhawat Hossain Khan got `Paddy Sheaf`.

The city corporation poll is scheduled to be held on December 22 for the first time with party symbols.

Besides, the Workers` Party candidate Mahbubur Rahman Ismail got symbol `Spade`, Liberal Democratic Party`s (LDP) Kamal Pradhan `Umbrella`, Kalyan Party`s Rashed Ferdaus `Wrist Watch`, Islami Shasantantra Andalan`s candidate Masum Billah `Hand-fan` and Islami Oikyajot`s Mufti Ejharul Haq got `Minar`.
