Return to democratic politics: Suranjit to BNP
Awami League Advisory Council Member Suranjit Sengupta on Monday called upon the BNP to shun the path of undemocratic and unconstitutional and terrorist politics.
"You (BNP) should apologize to the countrymen for killing innocent people by hurling petrol bombs and creating discrimination between Shiite and Sunni," he said.
The AL leader was addressing a discussion titled "Bangabandhu and Bangladesh" organised by Bangabandhu Swadhina Parishad marking the Victory at Dhaka Reporters` Unity auditorium.
Former State Minister for Home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, Assistant secretaries to Awami League sub-committee Advocate Balaram Poddar, Shah Jahan Alam Saju and MA Karim, Daily "Ajker Surjodoy" editor Khandkar Mozammel Haque and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote general secretary Arun Sarkar Rana, among others, addressed the discussion.
Suranjit Sengupta, also Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, said: "If you do not acknowledge War of Liberation, cannot support the trial of war criminals and leave the company of Jammaat, you cannot do politics in the country."
