90 pc implementation of CHT treaty before next polls: Quader
Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said the government will implement 90 percent of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Peace Accord by this tenure, reports BSS.
“Every provisions of CHT Peace Accord will be materialized before the next national election,” he told the newsmen after visiting a bridge in Sonaipool area under Ramgarh upazila in the district this afternoon.
Quader said as part of implementing the treaty fully, the Chittagong Hill Tracts Land Dispute Resolution Commission (Amendment) Act has been passed to lessen the longtime land dispute in the hilly areas and to establish everlasting peace.
Earlier, the Awami League general secretary joined a mass reception organised by Ramgarh Upazila Awami League at the bus-terminal here.
Addressing the function, the minister said BNP-Jamaat clique have failed to wage movement and now started a “politics of complaining” before their foreign lords.
“The history of democracy in Bangladesh could have been written in different ways, if BNP took part in the January 5 general polls responding the call of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
Awami League (AL) Organizing Secretary Enamul Haque Shamim, AL Central Working Committee member Dipankar Talukdar, Khagrachhari Awami League Kujendra Lal Tripura, MP, and Feroza Begum Chinu, MP, were present on the occasion.
Later, Quader joined a rally of district Awami League at Khagrachhari Stadium.
