14-party delegation to visit Nasirnagar Monday

A delegation of ruling Awami League-led 14-pary alliance will visit Nasirnagar in Brahmanbaria district on Monday to see the victims of attacks on Hindu community members, reports BSS.

The delegation will talk to the affected people and the local administration, 14-pary spokesman and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohamad Nasim told a press conference after a meeting of the alliance at AL president’s Dhanmondi office in the city on Sunday.

AL Presidium Member Dr. Abdur Razzak and Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua will lead the delegation.

Some 15 Hindu temples and over 100 houses came under attack at Nasirnagar on October 30 over an allegation of hurting religious sentiment through a Facebook post.

Again, after five days, the miscreants set fire to five houses and a temple of the Hindus in Nasirnagar upazila.

Mohammad Nasim urged the administration to be tough to ensure security of Hindu community in Nasirnagar and demanded quick actions against those in administration who failed to prevent the attacks.

He said the anti-liberation clique perpetrated attacks, vandalism and looting in Nasirnagar.

The leaders of AL and 14-pary alliance would have to step into the field together to resist the anti-liberation cliques, he added.

The health minister rejected BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia’s allegation that the government is not allowing the BNP to hold a rally in fear of the party’s popular support and said the AL does not fear anyone.

Rather, it is the BNP that is afraid of the people because of its misdeeds, he added.

Presided over by Mohammad Nasim, the 14-party meeting was attended by AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President Hasanul Huq Inu and AL Joint General Secretary Dipu Moni and Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip.
