Shamsher Mobin resigns from BNP

BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury announces to go on retirement from politics resigning from all posts of the party citing health reasons.

"Citing my various illnesses, I have submitted my resignation letter to party`s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday," said the veteran BNP leader.

Mobin served as the foreign secretary between 2001 and 2005 during the BNP-Jamaat alliance government.

He joined the BNP in 2008 after serving as the Bangladesh envoy in the US for two years.

Shamsher was made a vice chairman after the BNP’s national convention in 2009.
