137 Bangladeshis killed in Mina stampede: Shahriar

The death toll of Bangladeshi hajj pilgrims from the tragic stampede in Saudi Arabia’s Mina has now reached 137 and 53 other Bangladeshi pilgrims are still missing, said State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam on Sunday at a press briefing at the ministry.

Over one lakh people from Bangladesh went to Saudi Arabia to perform hajj this year.

On September 24 last, a crowd collapse caused the deaths of at least 2,086 people who were suffocated or crushed during the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Mina, Makkah.
