5 killed, 19 injured as bus overturns in Tangail

Five people were killed and 19 others injured when a bus overturned in Kalihati upazila of Tangail district early Friday.

The deceased were identified as Ahsan Habib, 10, Asma Begum 40, Mominur Rahman, 35, Ripon Miah, 30 and Sumon 25, were residents of Hatibandha and Patgram upazilas in Lalmonirhat district.

The accident took place when a Dhaka bound passenger bus collided with a ‘Karimon’ coming from the opposite direction on Dhaka- Tangail highway at Poule area around 4am, Sergeant Jahangir Alam, in-charge of Elenga Highway Police Outpost.

Four passengers of the bus died on the spot and 19 others injured. The injured people were rushed to Sheikh Hasina Medical College Hospital.
