Biggest Eid Jamaat held at Sholakia

The biggest Jamaat of Eid-ul-Azha of the country was held at Sholakia Eidgha Maidan on Tuesday.

Tens of thousands of devotees joined the largest jamaat on the historic Sholakia Eidgha Maidan despite heavy shower.

This year’s jamaat was the 189th jamaat at Sholakia Eidgha Maidan held at 9 this morning. The Eid-jamaat was conducted by noted Islamic scholar Moulana M Farid Uddin Mashud.

A special munajat was also offered seeking divine blessings for peace, development and welfare of the people of the country as well as the Muslim Ummah. The Eid jamaat also urged all to forge unity against militancy.

Two special trains carried the devotees on Bhairav-Kishoreganj and Mymensingh-Kishoreganj routes to facilitate them.

A three-tier security measure was taken in and around Sholakia Eidgah ground. The District Administration deployed members of different law enforcement agencies including three platoons BGB, police and RAB to ensure a foolproof security in and around the venue during the prayers, BSS reported.

They also conducted a massive search by mine detector and other modern instruments before the Eid jamaat.

It may be mentioned here that Mosnod-e-Ala, sixth decedents of Isha Khan erected the Sholakia Maidan on seven acres of land near the town by the side of Narosunda River in 1828.

Local researchers claimed nearly one and quarter lakh devotees joined the first Eid congregation at the newly erected maidan and after that the maidan was renamed as ‘Soa Lakhi Math’ that finally established as Sholakia.
