Father and mother to die for killing children

A court in Rangpur on Thursday sentenced parents to death for killing their children in 2007.

The death row convicts are Tnjila’s father Abu Taher, 41 and stepmother Laboni Begum, 29.

After examining all records and witnesses, Abu Zafar Md.Kamruzzaman, Rangpur Additional District and Session Judge-2 passed the order in absence of two convicts.

According to the prosecution, Abu Taher and Laboni strangled Tanjila to death while they were returning home after visiting Shampur area on 13 December, 2007.

Later locals caught Abu Taher and handed over to police while Laboni managed to flee the scene.

The victim’s uncle Shadekul Islam filed a case with Pirgonj Police Station, accusing Abu Taher and Laboni.Taher and Laboni are absconding.
