SP Babul Akter relieved of service
The much-talked-about Superintendent of Police (SP) Babul Akter has been relieved of his Police Department service.
The Home Ministry issued a gazette notification to this end on Tuesday, reports UNB.
It said the decision was made as per Babul Akter’s application for having relieved of the service.
Babul came to the spotlight after his wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu was killed by three assailants at OR Nizam Road in port city of Chittagong on 5 June this year.
Babul had not been attending his office since his wife’s murder.
Babul’s resignation or removal has been in rumour mill since he was interrogated for 15 hours at DB’s Minto Road office about his wife’s murder.
Amid the growing rumour, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on 14 August said Babul submitted his resignation letter to the Police Headquarters which then reached the Home Ministry.
Later, Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque also said Babul is not willing to continue his job in the Police Department.
