Mohammad Ashraful becomes father

Bangladesh’s former captain Mohammad Ashraful begins a new innings of his life - parenthood - as the star cricketer and his wife Anika Taslima Orchi welcomed their first born to the world on Monday at 12.10am.

Confirming the matter, Ashraful told Jagonews24.com over the telephone that, ‘Both mother and daughter are doing well’.

He also revealed the name of the baby, which is Areeba Tasnim Ashraful.

A top-order batsman with a penchant for flashy strokeplay, Ashraful was also selected to represent the ACC Asia XI ODI side.

Between 2007 and 2009, Ashraful captained his country in 13 Tests, and 38 One Day Internationals (ODIs) of which Bangladesh won eight.
