Mastermind of Dipan killing detained: Cop

Police detained one of the ‘masterminds’ of  Jagriti Prokashoni owner Faisal Arefin Dipan murder and attempted killing of another Shuddhoswar Prokashoni owner Ahmedur Rashid Tutul.

The detainee is Abdus Sabur. Further details about him could not be known immediately. Members of the Detective Branch held Abdus from Tongi Railway station on Saturday night.

Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the matter to the reporters.

He said, Abdus was one of the masterminds of Dipan murder and attempted killing of Tutul. 

It is mentionable that, Dipan was stabbed dead inside his office in Dhaka’s Aziz Super Market on October 31 last year. The same day, Tutul was knifed in what appeared to be synchronised attacks on publishers of slain secularist writer-blogger Avijit Roy.
