Jammat leader held in Sylhet

Police arrested Jamaat-e-Islami Companiganj upazila unit general secretary Md Fayzur Rahman along with 110 cocktails from Rajnagar Notunbazar area under Companiganj upazila in Sylhet early Wednesday.

Officer-in-charge of Companiganj Police Station Md Bayece said tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Faizur while Jammat- Shibir activists were holding a secret meeting in order to plan sabotage during hartal hours.

Sensing the presence of police the other Jammat- Shibir activists managed to flee the scene.

Police also recovered 110 cocktails, some jihadi (religious uprising) books and leaflets from their possession, the OC added.
