Verdict taken by false allegations: Khandaker Mahbub

Death row war criminal Mir Quasem Ali’s lawyer Khandaker Mahbub Hossain on Tuesday claimed that the death penalty verdict for his client has been taken by bringing false allegations.

Khandaker Mahbub was talking to the reporters expressing his reaction after the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court dismissed Quasem’s review plea against his death sentence, awarded by a special tribunal two years ago and later upheld by the apex court.

Regarding the verdict, he said that it is not possible for him to state the verdict by the Appellate Division is ‘not right’.

Asked about whether his client will seek presidential mercy or not, Khandaker Mahbub declined to make any comment.
