Youth kills wife, stepson in Keraniganj

A young man hacked his wife to death and strangled his stepson in South Keraniganj upazila early Wednesday, reports UNB.

The deceased were identified as Shahera,30, and her 10-year-old son Foysal.

Locals said Ishak,35, son of Amjad Hawlader, a resident of Noarda village in Naria upazila of Shariatpur district used to reside at Najurganj village in South Keraniganj upazila along with his wife Shehera and his stepson Foysal and stepdaughter Jannat.

The couple often used to lock in altercation since after their marriage over various family feuds.

Ishak had a quarrel with Shahera over a family issue at about 1:45 am.

At one stage, he hacked Shahera with a sharp weapon, leaving her dead on the spot.

Ishak also stabbed Jannat and strangled Foysal when they resisted him to save their mother, leaving Foysal dead on the spot and Jannat critically injured.

Injured Jannat was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Confirming the matter, Keraniganj Model Police Station sub-inspector Saiduzzaman said the bodies were sent to Mitford Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Locals caught Ishak and handed him over to police.
