Dacoit killed in Kushtia ‘gunfight’

A member of inter-district dacoit gang was killed in an alleged gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Kushtia.

The incident took place on Kushtia-Meherpur near Moshan bazaar of Mirpur on Sunday at 3am.

The deceased is Mukul Munshi, 45, son of late Yousuf Munshi, of village Barmile of Bheramara Upazila in the district.

Major Mosaddek Ibne Mujib, Commander of RAB-12, told that, 7 to 8 dacoits were taking preparation to commit robbery.  Being informed, a team of RAB rushed to the spot. Sensing the presence of them, dacoits opened fire on them that forced to fire back.

At that time, Mukul was killed on the spot and other members managed to flee away. The deceased body was sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue, he added.

Members of RAB recovered a foreign made pistol, a magazine, two round bullets, two machets, a saw and rope from the spot.
