Tamim’s death will not hamper inquiry: Home boss

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal om Saturday said the death of Gulshan attack mastermind Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury will not hamper the investigation work of the law enforcers.

The home boss came up with these statements while talking to the journalists after visiting the spot in Paikpara area at afternoon.

Replying to a query, the minister said: ‘Our intelligence agency has got a lot of information. Our work will not be hampered just because we could not get any information from Tamim before he was killed in the drive.’

‘These militants are isolated from the society. None of them will be spared.’

Kamal also said they are suspecting that the two other militants who were killed in Narayanganj joint drive are close accomplices of Gulshan attack mastermind Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury.

The minister said: ‘We are assuming that they were close accomplices of Tamim but it can only be confirmed after investigation.’

A joint team of the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the local police started an operation at a three-storey building at 9:36am which continued till 10:35am on Saturday morning.

Operation Hit Strong 27 at Narayanganj’s Paikpara saw three suspected militants killed including Tamim Chowdhury, the suspected mastermind of Gulshan attack at Holey Artisan Bakery on July 1.

Tamim is also the suspected to be the head of Islamic State in Bangladesh.
