Stop Rampal power plant: Khaleda

Terming Rampal thermal power plant as anti-nation project BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday said this project will harm country’s economy and environment.

It is high time to prevent the anti-people Rampal project, BNP chairperson came up with her remarks in a press briefing about Rampal issue at chairperson’s political office in city’s Gulshan around 4pm.

Rampal is not the issue of Awami League or BNP, is the issue of national interest so people from all walks of live should come forward to prevent government’s odd decision of building Rampal thermal power plant near Sundarban, she said in her statement.

Describing the present government as autocratic the ex-prime minister said the government has taken the decision to build Rampal Power Plant to hold the power insists of serving country’s interest. 

She alleged that Rampal power plant will harm world’s largest mangrove forest Sundarban and life circle of Sundarban and its adjoining area will be affected.

Urging to save Sundarban Khaleda Zia called to cancel the Rampal power plant agreement immediately considering ecological balance and country’s interest.
