Six police injured in BCL attack

Six police personnel were injured as BCL men assaulted them while police members tried to prevent them on Monday for trying to enter the Hazrat Shahjalal Mazar Sharif compound illegally.

According to local sources, police stopped plying vehicles between Amberkhana to Chowhatta as an ors (religious function) was going on at the Mazar Sharif.

Suddenly, a group of BCL men led by its former central joint secretary Masud Kamal Sufi tried to enter the area riding motorcycles.

They attacked on on-duty police personnel leaving SI Shaheen, Aziz, Farhad, constable Moslem, Abbas and Alfaz critically injured while they stopped them.

Members of the law enforcers also opened fire and brought the situation under control.

A case was filed against 35 men, including leaders and activists of the BCL in connection with the attack, said Suhel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station.

Ten BCL men were also arrested.
