2 to die, 2 get life term for killing female RMG worker
A Gazipur Court on Tuesday sentenced two youth to death and two others to life term imprisonment over killing a female readymade garments worker after violating her at Sreepur upazila of the district in 2014.
The death row convicts are Md Kalam, 30, son of late Abdul Hakem and Iqbal Hossain, 22, son of Hossain Ali where the life term convicts are Abdul Latif, 25 and Mokhles, 19.
The Court also fined them tk 10,000 each.
According to prosecution, Rupali Khatun, 25, daughter of Moqbul Mia hailing from Charghat upazila of Rajshahi district used to work as garments worker in Sreepur upazila.
On August 16, 2014 convicts had asked Rupali Khatun to come with them, took her to a nearby jungle and strangulated her to death at the night.
In the morning, being informed from the local, police recovered her hanging body form the area.
Abdul Malek, Sub-inspector of Sreepur Police Station filed a case in the connection.
On April 28, 2015, Sub-inspector of Sreepur Police Station, Saiful Islam submitted charge sheet to court against four people.
After examining all the records and 11 witnesses, District and Session Judge AKM Enamul Haque handed down the verdict.
