Injunction on sale of Ashiyan City plots

The Supreme Court has issued an injunction restraining all activities including selling plots and advertisement of Ashiyan City housing project in the capital’s Uttara area.

A five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha on Monday passed the order following a petition filed by eight rights organisations seeking a stay on the HC order.

The apex court also stayed a High Court order that on August 16 scrapped an earlier verdict declaring the Ashiyan City housing project illegal.

The SC order will remain effective until a leave to appeal petition is filed with the court against the August 16 verdict.
