NSU’s Pro VC gets bail
A Dhaka Court on Sunday granted bail to Professor M Gias Uddin Ahsan, acting pro-vice chancellor of the North South University (NSU), and two others, who were arrested on charges of sheltering the Gulshan Holey Artisan Bakery attackers and hiding information about the attackers.
Judge Sadbir Ahsan Chowdhury of Dhaka Metropolitan Court granted the bail after hearing their bail petitions in the afternoon.
Earlier, police arrested M Gias Uddin Ahsan, his nephew Alam Chowdhury and Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, the manager of a house in Bashundhara Residential Area for sheltering the militants.
Law enforcers claimed that at least five militants, who carried out the Gulshan attack on July 1, had taken shelter in the flat no, A/6, owned by Ahsan.
On July 1, in this year, militants carried out an attack at Gulshan’s Holey Artisan Bakery, an upscale Spanish eatery in the city and killed 22 people including 17 foreigners and two police officials.
