Road accidents kill 13 in 5 districts

At least 13 people were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents in five districts across the country on Wednesday morning.

In Sunamganj, four CNG  auto-rickshaw passengers were crushed to death by a truck in the morning.

The identities of the deceased and the details of the accident could not be known immediately.

The deadly accident took place when a speeding truck rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the area around 8:15 am, leaving four passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot.

Officer in-charge of Chhatak police station Ashek Shuza Mamun confirmed the incident.

In Chittagong, two people were killed in a road accident when a bus collided head-on with a three wheeler (Tempo) at Dawanhat in the city at around 9:00am.

Among the dead, one was identified as Md Naeem, 20, heailed from Ramgati of Noakhali district. The identity of the other could not be known.

The injured were sent to the nearest hospital for treatment.

In Barguna, two motorcyclists, including a Student of Dhaka University, were killed in when a bus crushed the motorcycle carrying them, leaving the duo dead on the spot.

The victims were Uzzal Kumar Sahadev, 24 , a student of Dhaka University. And Monir Shikder, 32.

Officer in-charge of Amtali police station Pulak Chandra Roy confirmed the incident.

In Tangail, two people killed as a passenger bus collided head-on with a human hauler at Kalinda on Dhaka-Tangail highway at 9:00am on Wednesday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known instantly.

In Brahmanbaria, three women were crushed to death at Islamabad under Sarail Upazila in on Wednesday noon.

The accident took place when a passenger bus crushed the victims while crossing the road in the area around 1:45pm, leaving the trio dead on the spot.
