Action if negligence found in Charukola security: RAB DG
RAB Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman addresses a press briefing on RAB’s security measures for the Pahela Baishakh 1432 celebrations at Ramna Batamul in Dhaka on Sunday.

RAB Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman has said that an investigation is underway to determine whether there were any lapses in the security arrangements at the Faculty of Fine Arts (Charukola) in connection with the burning of fascist motifs. He added that if any negligence is found on the part of those responsible for security, appropriate action will be taken.

He made the remarks while responding to a question during a press briefing on RAB’s security measures for the Pahela Baishakh 1432 celebrations, held at Ramna Batamul on Sunday (April 13) morning.

“The incident will be investigated, and legal action will be taken against those involved,” said the RAB DG. “We are also looking into whether there were any shortcomings in the duties of those in charge of security. If such negligence is identified, action will certainly follow.”

Regarding overall Pahela Baishakh security, Shahidur Rahman stated, “RAB has taken extensive measures to ensure security during the celebrations. The Bengali New Year is an important cultural occasion in our national life. As in previous years, we aim to celebrate this event with enthusiasm and in a joyful atmosphere. Security arrangements have been made not only in Dhaka but across the country. We have deployed motorcycle patrols, vehicle patrols, checkpoints, observation towers, and intelligence surveillance. We are working in coordination with other law enforcement agencies to ensure a smooth celebration.”

He further said, “The celebrations are set to begin today, with a band show at Suhrawardy Udyan this evening. From tomorrow morning, various events will take place across Dhaka. The main celebration will be held at Ramna Batamul. The Faculty of Fine Arts will organize the traditional Anondo Shobhajatra (Joyful Procession). Events will also be held throughout the day at Rabindra Sarobar. In the evening, programmes are scheduled at Manik Mia Avenue and other locations around the city. We have taken all possible security measures and hope to ensure a safe and successful celebration.”
