Evaly's Rasel, Shamima get 3 years in jail

A Dhaka court has sentenced Evaly's Managing Director Md Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin, also chairman of the e-commerce platform, to three years in jail for forgery.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Minhazur Rahman delivered the verdict on Sunday, April 6.

The court also fined them Tk 5,000 each and in default, they will have to serve in jail another six months.

Confirming the matter, plaintiff's lawyer Shakibul Islam told Jago News the accused are on the run and the court issued an arrest warrant.

One Muzahid Hasan Fahim filed a case against Rassel and Shamima in court in January, 2024, alleging cheating.

According to the case statement, Fahim placed an order to Evaly.com on February 20, 2021, to buy a motorcycle and paid price of the vehicle.

The e-commerce company was supposed to deliver it within 45 days and in failure, it will refund the money.

The company failed to deliver it within the stipulated period and return the money.
