A case has been filed over explosion of more than 100 crude bombs during a clash between two groups in Shariatpur's Zajira on Saturday, April 5, over establishing supremacy.

A sub-inspector of police filed the case against 88 people on Sunday, April 6, Zajira police station's officer-in-charge Dulal Akanda.

Seven individuals have, so far, been arrested in the case, he added.

Locals and police said the followers of Bilashpur union parishad chairman Kuddus Bepari and Swechchhasebak League leader Jalil Matbar had long been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the locality and they clashed on several occasions.

The supporters of both groups clashed again in Durbadanga area yesterday over a trivial matter and detonated more than crude bombs, leaving 16 people injured.

Later, the police personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
