There were no black-market ticket sales during this year’s Eid journey, and no railway officials dared to get involved, said Lt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Adviser to the Ministry of Home Affairs, on Sunday.

Speaking at a briefing after visiting Kamalapur Railway Station at 10:30 am, he stated, "Every year during the Eid journey, a ticket black-market syndicate emerges, often involving railway officials. This time, strict monitoring was in place, preventing anyone from engaging in such activities. As a result, passengers did not face any difficulties."

Confirming that homebound travelers were experiencing a smooth journey by train, just as they were on the roads, the Home Affairs Adviser added, "Previously, extortion would take place along the way, and vehicles were often stopped unnecessarily. But this time, that is not happening. No one had the opportunity or the courage to engage in such activities. Law enforcement personnel are also active and carrying out their duties efficiently. Overall, we are seeing positive outcomes from this Eid journey."

When asked about passenger feedback at the station, Jahangir Alam said, "Everyone is happy. Compared to previous years, they are traveling more comfortably. The hassle is minimal, and no one is being asked for extra money. Passengers themselves have reported this. If they can travel smoothly, our efforts will have been worthwhile."

During the visit, Director General of Bangladesh Railway Md Afzal Hossain, Station Manager Shahadat Hossain, and other senior railway officials were also present.
