2 new Appellate Division justices sworn in

Two newly appointed justices of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court were sworn in on Tuesday. The justices, Justice AKM Asaduzzman and Justice Farah Mahbub, took the oath of office administered by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed at the Supreme Court judges' lounge shortly after 10:30 am.
The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Dr Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan, the Registrar General of the Supreme Court. Justices from both the Appellate and High Court Divisions, along with the Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman, the President of the Supreme Court Bar Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, and other lawyers and officials from various levels of the Supreme Court’s High Court Division were present.
Earlier on Tuesday, President Mohammed Shahabuddin appointed two High Court judges as justices of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. According to a gazette notification from the Law Ministry, the president made the appointment under Article 95 (1) of the Constitution. The appointment will take effect from the day the justices took the oath of office.
