Palak on 4-day remand in murder case

A Dhaka court has granted a four-day remand for former ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak in connection with a murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak passed the order on Monday, March 24.

According to the case statement, Obaidul Islam was killed on August 5 during the anti-discrimination student movement in an attack by police and Awami League activists near Mayor Hanif Flyover in Jatrabari. A murder case was filed at Jatrabari police station following the incident.

On the night of August 14, Palak was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) police while hiding in the Nikunj residential area of Khilkhet, Dhaka. Since then, he has been remanded multiple times in various cases. He is currently held at Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur.
