CA to confer Independence Award on Tuesday

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will confer the Independence Award 2025 upon seven individuals on Tuesday, March 25.

The award ceremony will take place at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka at 10:30 am, according to a government handout.

The government has nominated seven distinguished individuals for the "Independence Award 2025" in recognition of their outstanding contributions at the national level. 

The nominees are: Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam (posthumously) in science and technology, Mir Abdus Shukur Al Mahmud (posthumously) in literature, Novera Ahmed (posthumously) in culture, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed (posthumously) in social service, Mohammad Mahbubul Haque Khan alias Azam Khan (posthumously) in Liberation War and culture, Badruddin Mohammad Umar in education and research, and Abrar Fahad (posthumously) for his role as a young protester.

Besides, the interim government has reinstated the posthumous Independence Award bestowed upon Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
