3 of a family found dead in Gazipur

Three members of a family were found dead in a house in Kashimpur, Gazipur, on Sunday morning. Police suspect that the husband strangled his wife and child to death before hanging himself.
The deceased have been identified as Md Nazmul Islam, 29, his wife Khadija Akter, 22, and their 4-year-old child, Nadia Akter.
Nazmul, originally from Shulpratima village in Tangail's Sakhipur upazila, was unemployed and reportedly addicted to drugs, according to police.
Md Iftakhar Hossain, Inspector (Investigation) at Kashimpur Police Station under Gazipur Metropolitan Police, stated that Nazmul had been living with his wife and child in a house provided by his father-in-law in Gobindabari Dewanpara area. They went to sleep around 11:00 pm on Friday. When they failed to wake up on Saturday morning, Nazmul's father-in-law opened a window from the back of the house, as the room was locked from the inside, and found Nazmul’s body hanging. After breaking down the door, he discovered the lifeless bodies of his daughter and grandchild and immediately informed the police.
The police recovered the bodies at around 10:00 am and sent them to the morgue at Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Legal action will be taken regarding the incident, said the officer.
