Justice Khizir Hayat of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court has been removed from his position. The President dismissed him under Clause 6 of Article 96 of the Constitution.

The Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification regarding the matter on Wednesday.

According to the notification, the President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh removed Justice Khizir Hayat from his position as a judge of the High Court Division on March 18, in accordance with Clause 6 of Article 96 of the Constitution.

Born on January 24, 1967, Khizir Hayat completed his education at the University of Dhaka. He enrolled as a lawyer at the Dhaka District Judge Court on August 6, 1997, and at the High Court Division on February 9, 2001. He was appointed as an additional judge of the High Court Division on May 31, 2018, and was made a permanent judge two years later.

Khizir Hayat was among 12 High Court Division justices who were initially relieved of their judicial duties on October 20, following student protests demanding the resignation of "partisan, corrupt, and fascist-aligned" judges.
