3 killed in Mymensingh as truck collides with auto-rickshaw

Three people were killed, and three others were injured when a truck collided with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh on Monday morning.

The incident occurred around 9:00 am at the Chanpur Bridge area in Phulpur upazila.

The deceased have been identified as Md Hasan, 16, son of Habij Mia from Hatpagla village in Phulpur; Md Ashik Mia, 20, son of Riaz Uddin from Chaturgram village in Nakla, Sherpur; and Abul Kashem, 50, son of the late Nabbe Ali from Palashti village in Raipura, Narsingdi.

Officer-in-charge (OC) Md Abdul Hadi of Phulpur Police Station confirmed the incident to Jago News.

According to the OC, the auto-rickshaw was heading towards Phulpur bus stand from Baitkandi when it collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction at the Chanpur Bridge. Three passengers of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot, and three others were injured. Locals rescued the injured and sent them to the Upazila Health Complex and Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment.

The OC stated that efforts are underway to identify the truck and its driver. Legal action is in progress regarding the incident.
