Police fire tear gas at Hizb ut-Tahrir procession, 2 detained

Police detained two members of the banned organization Hizb ut-Tahrir in front of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka following a chase and counter-chase with its members. 

The organization had begun a procession, called ‘March for Khilafah,’ from the mosque’s north gate, passing through Paltan and heading toward the Bijoynagar water tank.

During the procession, the police fired tear gas shells. Members of the organization attempted to confront the police, leading to a chase and counter-chase between the two sides. Ultimately, two members were detained in front of the mosque.
