Transport workers block Mohakhali protesting police case

Chaos erupted in Mohakhali on Wednesday afternoon as transport workers blocked the road, protesting a police case against an owner for operating bus without valid documents.
The blockade, starting around 3:30pm, snarled traffic and left commuters stranded in a massive jam.
Md Junayed Jahedi, Assistant Commissioner (Traffic) for Mohakhali Zone, explained that a mobile court in Uttara filed the case earlier that day after finding the bus lacked proper paperwork.
The driver then brought the vehicle to Mohakhali, where 200 to 300 workers barricaded the road, halting all movement to and from the Mohakhali Bus Terminal.
“We’ve urged them to clear the main road for their protest,” Jahedi said, noting that extra police have been deployed to manage the situation.
The standoff continues to choke one of Dhaka’s busiest hubs, testing patience and traffic alike.
